Sky Blue Builders was selected to perform comprehensive ADA improvements along 44th Avenue between Delaware Street and Broadway as part of the City of Denver’s ongoing accessibility and mobility initiatives. The project focused on upgrading pedestrian infrastructure within a heavily trafficked urban environment while maintaining safe access for the public and adjacent properties.
The work included demolition and reconstruction of sidewalks, curb and gutter, ramps, stairs, retaining walls, railings, barriers, lighting, and associated utilities. Executing this scope required careful sequencing and coordination to maintain pedestrian circulation, protect nearby operations, and minimize disruption along a busy city corridor.
Sky Blue Builders worked closely with DOTI, project partners, and inspectors to coordinate schedules, permits, and inspections while managing evolving site conditions and owner-directed changes. Several design refinements and unit-price construction quantities were incorporated during construction, requiring adaptability and disciplined cost and schedule control.
Through proactive planning, responsive field leadership, and close stakeholder coordination, Sky Blue Builders successfully delivered the project in compliance with City standards, prevailing wage requirements, and MWBE participation goals—supporting safer, more accessible streets for the surrounding community.
