The East Colfax Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project is a transformative transportation initiative delivering a combination of center-running and side-running transit improvements along Colfax Avenue, one of Denver’s most historic and heavily traveled corridors. Spanning from the I-225/Colfax Station in Aurora to downtown Denver, the project is designed to improve transit reliability, safety, and multimodal connectivity while supporting long-term corridor revitalization.

Sky Blue Builders is partnering with Kraemer North America under a CM/GC delivery model, contributing specialized expertise in vertical construction and transit station delivery. Sky Blue’s role focuses on the construction of BRT stations and associated architectural elements, complementing Kraemer’s leadership in horizontal roadway and corridor infrastructure work.

This partnership builds on a proven working relationship between the two firms, including successful collaboration on the I-25 North Express Lanes Design-Build project, where Sky Blue supported construction of Port of Entry facilities. That experience established a strong foundation for coordinated execution, schedule and phasing alignment, and quality control on complex transit projects.

Station construction along Colfax requires close coordination with multiple stakeholders, including DOTI, RTD, CDOT, local jurisdictions, and surrounding neighborhoods. Sky Blue Builders brings deep familiarity with transit environments, having delivered multiple RTD stations and corridor improvements, as well as a strong understanding of the Colfax corridor through prior on-call and infrastructure work.

Construction is currently underway and will continue through 2028. Upon completion, the East Colfax BRT will provide faster, more reliable transit service, improved pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, and enhanced station environments that reflect neighborhood character while strengthening connectivity across the Denver metropolitan area.
