Fernando Franco serves as Controller at Sky Blue Builders, where he leads the company’s accounting and financial reporting and works alongside leadership to give the company clear, timely information for decision-making. His focus is on building financial systems that are accurate, transparent, and built to grow with the business and its employee-owners — including putting current technology and AI to work automating routine accounting tasks, so the close is faster, the numbers are cleaner, and the team’s time goes to the questions that matter. A drive toward continuous process improvement has run through every role he has held.
Fernando brings more than 30 years of corporate accounting experience: nine years in Phoenix with Bechtel and GE, followed by 23 years with Denver construction companies. He first joined Sky Blue in 2019 as Controller, where he built the company’s month-end close and financial reporting processes; after two years away, he returned in 2026 to lead the finance function through its next stage of growth. His familiarity with the company’s history, its projects, and its people gives him an unusual vantage point on where it has been and where it is going.
Fernando holds an accounting degree from DeVry University and serves on the executive board of directors of Contractor Academy.
