Inside Sky Blue Builders’ Journey to Employee Ownership

At Sky Blue Builders, employee ownership is more than a business structure. It is a long-term investment in people, opportunity, and shared success.

On May 20, 2026, members of the Sky Blue Builders team participated in the National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO) Staff Retreat at the Brown Palace Hotel in Denver, joining leaders from NCEO and Apis & Heritage Capital Partners for a conversation focused on ownership culture, employee-led growth, and the realities of building an employee-owned company in the construction industry.

As part of the event, Sky Blue Builders produced a short video featuring perspectives from employee-owners across the company, including Mowa Haile, Lauren Grosh, Adam Tinucci, Julia Mata, Michael Chavez, and Brian Limias-Garcia.

The video explores Sky Blue Builders’ history, its transition to employee ownership, and the ways ownership culture is showing up across the organization — from field operations and workforce development to mentorship, leadership growth, and long-term career opportunity.

The event also highlighted the role organizations like NCEO and Apis & Heritage continue to play in expanding access to employee ownership and helping companies create meaningful long-term wealth-building opportunities for employees.

Today, Sky Blue Builders continues to grow as a 100% employee-owned company committed to building not only complex projects across Colorado, but also a stronger culture of shared ownership and opportunity for the people behind the work.
