Mowa Haile founded Sky Blue Builders in 2007 with a clear goal: to create opportunity, deliver quality work, and build something that would last. With a background in the technology sector and a deep-rooted entrepreneurial spirit, he set out to learn every aspect of running a business—from operations to sales to strategy. Guided by strong values and surrounded by a dedicated team, Mowa helped grow Sky Blue from a two-person venture into a respected general contractor serving Fortune 500 companies and public agencies across the region.
Over the years, Sky Blue Builders has earned a reputation for integrity, inclusion, and reliability—values that are reflected in the company’s longstanding client relationships and repeat business. Today, over 85% of Sky Blue’s work comes from returning clients, a testament to the trust built over time. In 2024, the company became an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), reinforcing its commitment to shared success and giving team members a stake in the future they’re helping to build.
Mowa believes business can—and should—be a force for good. As a first-generation American, he brings a people-first perspective to his work and is deeply committed to building community through economic opportunity, mentorship, and inclusive hiring. His leadership style is quiet, thoughtful, and rooted in collaboration.
At Sky Blue Builders, Mowa continues to lead with vision and humility. He’s proud of the work the team has accomplished—and even more proud of the people behind it.
