Mowa Haile founded Sky Blue Builders in 2007 with a clear vision: to build a company defined not only by quality construction, but by opportunity, trust, and long-term impact. Since its founding, Sky Blue Builders has grown into one of Colorado’s most respected commercial general contractors, delivering complex projects for major public and private clients across the region.
A first-generation American who emigrated from Eritrea to Colorado as a child, Mowa’s journey has been shaped by resilience, discipline, and an unwavering belief in the power of opportunity. After growing up in Fort Collins, competing as a state champion track athlete, and earning a scholarship to Colorado State University, he built a career rooted in entrepreneurship, service, and leadership.
Under Mowa’s leadership, Sky Blue Builders has earned a reputation for integrity, inclusion, and reliability, with more than 85% of its work coming from repeat clients. In 2024, Mowa led the company’s transition to 100% employee ownership through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), a defining milestone that reinforced his belief that the people who help build a company should share in its long-term success.
