The NPS Jewell Cave Parking Lot Improvements project involved comprehensive upgrades to parking and stormwater infrastructure at Jewell Cave National Monument in Custer, South Dakota. Delivered for the National Park Service, the project included removal and replacement of the existing parking lot, construction of an innovative stormwater collection and treatment system to prevent seepage into the fragile cave system, rehabilitation of the existing discharge channel, and improvements to ADA-accessible routes connecting the parking area to the visitor center. Additional work included replacement of the ticket sales kiosk and site restoration, all completed while carefully managing environmental constraints and weather impacts to protect this nationally significant natural resource.
