Aviation Projects

At Denver International Airport, we’ve worked on projects that required meticulous planning and execution. We know that mistakes cost more time and money when security is higher and site logistics are complex. These challenges are just one area that we have the experience and knowledge to handle when it comes to jobs in airports. This hands-on experience is what lets us get your aviation projects off the ground and flying.

MOD2W ESCALATOR AREA BUILDOUT

Aviation, Industries

Under the Great Hall Completion Project – Phase 2, Sky Blue Builders was contracted out by Hensel Phelps (HP) to complete the Escalator Area Build-Out in MOD 2 West. The scope installation of two new escalators and the full buildout of new cladding, drywall finishes, flooring, solid surface paneling, and column covers. The complexity of this project is centered around structural demolition and detailed demolition within an occupied space and our ability to maneuver an immense escalator structure into a confined construction footprint. Furthermore, over 20 specialty subcontractors were utilized including imported Italian ceramic tile floors, solid surface wall coverings, steel and glass handrails, and metal column covers. The MEP scope of work was challenging given that we were integrating a new system and equipment into the existing systems which required extensive coordination and testing. In addition to this, the area required improvements and modifications to life safety and security features such as smoke curtains, fire alarms, ECS, smoke devices, and the commissioning of CCTV security cameras. All this was managed in a way to minimize the construction noise and footprint to allow DEN and Airline operations to continue seamlessly.
