Sky Blue Builders was a dedicated subcontractor to the large-scale P3 Design-Build effort led by Kiewit and AECOM. Sky Blue Builders was responsible for the construction of 6 of the 9 Light Rail Stations. The scope included full station platform construction, site furnishings, retaining walls, curb and gutter, electrical systems, landscaping, and associated site work. At the Colfax Station, Sky Blue Builders delivered a complex scope that included elevator towers, elevator pits, maintenance and electrical rooms, bridge connections, and extensive structural concrete and masonry work integrated into an active transit corridor.
Given the number of jurisdictions and agencies involved, Sky Blue Builders implemented tailored project controls to address RTD compliance requirements, DBE reporting, and Design-Build team processes.
