Sky Blue Builders completed the renovation of a 345-square-foot Type IIB tenant improvement CT scanner suite within UCHealth’s freestanding emergency department in Aurora, Colorado. Delivered in an active healthcare environment, the project required careful coordination to support the installation of new imaging equipment while maintaining ongoing emergency department operations.

The scope of work included selective demolition of the existing slab and construction of a new reinforced concrete pad to support heavier imaging equipment, along with upgrades to electrical systems, lighting, finishes, and shielding. Architectural improvements included a new lead-lined door frame, ceiling systems, flooring, and wall repairs designed to meet healthcare and imaging standards.

To ensure continuity of imaging services, the team coordinated temporary power and access for a mobile CT trailer and implemented infection control measures, interim barriers, and off-hours work to minimize disruption. Through proactive problem-solving and close collaboration with UCHealth and trade partners, Sky Blue Builders delivered the project on schedule, demonstrating expertise in complex healthcare renovations within constrained, operational settings.
