Sky Blue Builders delivered the WorldPort Parking Expansion at Denver International Airport, converting approximately 5.9 acres into a fully operational parking facility supporting airport and rental car operations. Executed under DEN’s ROCIP program, the project required disciplined safety compliance, documentation controls, and coordination within a highly regulated airport environment.

The work included new underground utilities, concrete and asphalt paving, electrical infrastructure, erosion control, striping, fencing, surveying, and traffic control. Construction sequencing was carefully planned to integrate multiple subcontractors while coordinating with adjacent contractors and utility providers outside the project’s direct scope.

Winter conditions added complexity to large-scale concrete and asphalt placement, requiring ground heating, insulation, and modified paving strategies to meet temperature and compaction requirements. Trimble-guided equipment and CAD-based controls were used to achieve a consistent one-percent slope across the site while maintaining quality standards.

Sky Blue Builders coordinated closely with DEN, Denver Water, CCD Fire, Xcel Energy, state agencies, and nearby rental car operators to manage approvals, utility conflicts, dust mitigation, and security requirements. Despite external delays related to ROCIP onboarding and third-party approvals, the project achieved substantial completion ahead of peak holiday travel, reflecting strong planning, stakeholder alignment, and execution in a constrained airport setting.
